Tal L. Kapelner
Managing Partner

Tal Kapelner graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 2017 with dual concentrations in Business Law – Securities Regulation, and in Entertainment, Media, and Intellectual Property Law. He has been licensed by the State Bar of California since December 2017.

Prior to law school, Tal led his own independent paralegal company for 15 years, working with attorneys on a range of securities and corporate transactional issues related primarily to accessing financial markets and transacting mergers and acquisitions. Tal also founded, took public and sold his own start-up company, while still running his paralegal business.

Following law school, and while maintaining a small corporate and securities practice for development-stage companies, Tal worked in the Business & Legal Affairs Department of IM Global/Global Road Entertainment, an independent film studio. While there, Tal drafted and negotiated option-purchase and similar rights acquisition deals, and worked in a similar capacity on above-the-line talent and filmmaker agreements. He also specialized in international distribution licensing agreements, independent film financing agreements, production legal responsibilities and legal document delivery to film distributors worldwide, work he continues in his current practice after leaving Global Road.

Tal received his undergraduate degree in United States Legal History from Boston University, having researched and written his senior thesis on the changing attitude toward First Amendment jurisprudence as revealed through U.S. Supreme Court rulings from 1907 to 1965. He continued his education prior to law school with classes in bookkeeping, accounting, and business law at Antelope Valley College, as well as through the successful completion of the CopyrightX copyright law class delivered online by HarvardX, a joint project of Harvard Law School and The Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.
